Lakota Emergence Catalogue

The Lakota Emergence catalog recaps the exhibit that focused on the narrative "How the Lakota Came Upon the World". The exhibit divided the 1,251-word narrative into 16 "passages" and paired each passage with a work by a distinguished or emerging Lakota artist. 

The narrative was recorded by James Walker between 1896, when he first arrived in Pine Ridge to serve as the agency's physician, and 1917, when it was published by the American Museum of Natural History.
