Oglala--To scatter one's own.
An artist rendition of the Oglala Sioux Tribe's flag. Nine tipi's in a circle formation representing the nine districts within the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Each sovereign district operates within its own capacity and also collectively as a tribe.
The Lakota colors; white, yellow, red and black have several meanings. Among those are the "Four Directions" and the core Lakota virtues of: generosity, fortitude, respect and wisdom.
