Bear Butte or Bear Mountain in the Black Hills of South Dakota has held spiritual significance to the Plains Tribes even in the earliest accounts of their history. Many Native American's today, still make the journey to "Mato Paha" for prayer and meditation as their ancestors have for thousands of years.
