Centuries ago the Lakota had identified the Dragonfly as one of Grandmother Earth's most proficient hunters. He is considered by the Lakota a symbol of luck with his speed and darting movement. A warrior would try to mimic the dragonfly in battle or when counting coup as could offer supernatural protection.
